I've been making jewellery for more than 20 years now and a couple of years ago I  started thinking about teaching and passing on some of my skills and knowledge so I was excited when the opportunity arose to work with The Art House, Wakefield delivering jewellery making workshops. I also work with other venues, including The Craft Centre and Design Gallery in Leeds, The Old Courthouse in Thirsk and Just Makers at Ripley Castle.

I've got lots more workshops planned for 2024, as well as making a Silver Wrap Ring, Silver Drop Earrings and Silver Pendant Necklace workshops there is a Metal Hanging Decorations Workshop.

Learn how to use basic jewellery making tools to apply a range of techniques such as forming and shaping, planishing (a method of manipulating metal by hammering, filing, stamping, texturing and hand polishing. You will be guided through the making process to create your own silver jewellery.

There are so many different techniques that can be used in jewellery making and an endless array of tools, equipment and gadgets available but I want to show how it is possible to make beautiful jewellery with a simple selection of tools and materials.

These workshops are a great introduction to basic jewellery making techniques and you get to make and take home your very own piece of silver jewellery.
