In 2020 I had booked a stand at the British Craft Trade Fair which had been held in Harrogate for the last 44 years. I first attended back in 2012 and this was going to be my first time back there for a few years, unfortunately due to Covid-19 the live fair wasn't able to go ahead and it was held online instead. This was a shame, I had been looking forward to meeting other makers and connecting with buyers from shops and galleries in person. I was still able to make some new connections online but the big surprise that came from the online event was hearing that I was one of the winners of The PlatForm and Function Award sponsored by The Platform Gallery.
Based in the Ribble Valley, The Platform Gallery is committed to supporting independent makers and the winning makers were awarded a place in their Spring PlatForm and Function exhibition of contemporary craft.
The exhibition was scheduled for January 2021 but with the Covid-19 lockdown situation it was postponed and will now run from 14th April to 26th June.
The gallery were attracted to my 'Mini Geo Collection' and chose my work as they liked the visual links to modern art and architecture, the contemporary purpose in the design and my eco friendly approach, using recycled silver and gold in my work.
Here are a few of the 'Mini Geo' pieces to be featured in the exhibition.
